Three Methods for Producing EMI Shielding Gaskets
EMI shielding gaskets are needed to boost the performance of electronic applications and equipment. Although not seen, shielding gaskets can be found in smartphones, computers, medical devices, and telecom base stations. These protective parts are designed to prevent transmissions of unwanted radiation entirely. Gaskets can stop radio waves from entering devices and from leaving as well. EMI causes crosstalking amongst other electrical circuits, which causes them to misbehave. EMI shielding gaskets must fit diverse needs, and so different production methods are used to create the protective devices. Different processes work best for different needs. Our team can help you create custom gaskets and shields.
- Die-cutting gaskets are used for nested components and slots (with fasteners). The process is also frequently used as a solution for adhesive backing and kiss-cutting. Die-cutting also does not require liquid adhesives, which can be difficult for management on assembly lines.
- Extruded gaskets help to protect flange and groove applications. The process can design different shapes (hollow and solid). After extrusion and curing, the next step is to cut and fix elastomers together based on specific requirements.
- Molded EMI gaskets are employed when design flexibility is needed. Molded EMI is compatible with 3D designs.
