Does EMI Matter?
Most engineers and electronic designers understand just how essential it is to know about EMI (electromagnetic interference). In our modern technological world, EMI shielding allows for people to use electronic devices without having them be interfered with negatively by other sources electronic sources. Also preventing a device from leaking electromagnetism into the world. Without preventing electromagnetic interference, many of our modern electronics, including computers, smartphones, and medical equipment, would continually malfunction.
EMI is studied interference that exists between more than one electronic source, such as a TV or a radio in a car. If you have ever heard a weird noise from a stereo before getting a phone call, you have experienced electromagnetic interference. The speaker can Pick up a signal from the phone.
The term interference is used because results of EMI are undesired. The above example is annoying, but in some other cases, too much interference can be life-threatening.
Many modern products are tested for EMI standards before being released to the public. Testing must be done to ensure that devices are safe to use around other electronic devices.
EMI Shielding
One way to solve EMI problems is to try and tackle the issue at its source. Using different construction processes and materials, EMI can be eliminated at its source. This method can be time-consuming and costly. EMI shielding provides a less expensive and more Effective way of protecting electronics. Give us a call for custom designed EMI shields
